The incredible adventures of Mr. Fogg: Mr. Fogg

Mr. Fogg is a Ford Ranger 2012, with a custom made living cell permanently attached to its back. We wanted a 4wd vehicle, capable of sitting and berthing 3 persons, that would fit in a container and have all the amenities to travel comfortably. We would probably have opted for a "bush taxi", i.e. a 4wd equipped with a roof tent had we travelled without kid.

The 4wd:

It is double-cabin Ford Ranger, 2012 model, with a 2.2L turbo diesel engine delivering 150 hp and 375 Nm torque. A number of modifications were made to the stock model:

Lift kit OME, reinforced suspension blades +300kg;
Firestone suspension airbags;
BF-Goodrich AT tires;
Custom bumper and sidesteps by Icon Auto in Dubai;
Accor pre-filter;
A few LED bars and spotlights here and there to look cool.

The living cell:

Custom made by Loisirs K-oncept in the south of France to fit the vehicle based their K-Hutte model. A big thank you to the Jaillot brothers for the fantastic job by the way! We would really recommend them to anyone who needs to get an overland camper made to his own specs.
It is made of sandwich panels for the main structure, with an insulated canvas pop top. It can berth two adults and a kid. Following the K-Hutte concept, the beds are held up against the ceiling by air springs and can be folded down individually when a rest is needed. When folded down, there is enough space left to use the kitchen and move around. The child bed is formed by lowering the dining table and assembling the cushions together.
